What I Have Learned from this Course
This class was very challenging, but it was very fun and educating. We started the semester off with learning about fibers and yarns. Then it continued with learning the different types of weaves. Learning the different types of weaves and fabrics was my favorite project because after spending days in the resource room I was able to know the different types of weave without having to question it.
In this course I have learned so much about the numerous types of materials that I can’t even keep track. In order to get a better understanding of these materials we went on very helpful and useful field trips, but I had my favorites. My favorite field trips this semester was the visit to All About Looks, Jeff Seal Homes of Distinction, and Parkhill, Smith and Cooper Inc. The All About Looks field trip was very amazing, and we learned the different important materials that pass for code and the company also upholsters furniture, which I thought was very cool because it was done by one guy only. The Jeff Seal Homes of Distinction was a very breath taking field trip, with the integrating of many different unique design and architectural elements. Parkhill, Smith and Cooper Inc. was very educational and was the first LEED certified building in Lubbock.
The projects we did during this course was very challenging when it came to finding the four natural colors, taupe, cream, white, and sand; the last project was also very challenging and that was the LEED group research project and this was one of my favorite projects. Our group had Indoor Environmental quality, and this was my favorite of all LEED certified qualities. This research project really made an impact on me and it has made me think of pursuing a career in LEED.
I really enjoyed this class and I got so much out of it, and I am now aware of most of the materials that I need to know.
