The underlayment is made from 1.5" thick premium medium density fiberboard (MDF) for a more solid surface. The stainless steel covering rolls down over the edges of the MDF core, covering all sides evenly. A melamine, laminate-like backing allows for easy drilling when attaching to your base cabinetry. A straight sheet of stainless steel, without underlayment or backing, the backsplashes are pre-drilled for attachment to your counter or wall.
